Daphne K. Ikner

Daphne K. Ikner, age 93, died peacefully at her home in Tallahassee, FL on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.  She was born to parents Delbert Alden Knudson (1895-1944) and Oma Beryl Koser (1904-1984) in Omaha, Nebraska.

She resided in Georgia for many years before moving to Florida in the 1940s. She completed her education at Lively Vocational School in 1968 which led to a very long career with the State of Florida as a bookkeeper.  She first worked for the Division of Natural Resources and was soon promoted to a position at Florida State University’s Health Center. Several promotions later found her working at FSU’s Innovation Park when she retired in 1996.  She worked as a waitress much of her life and enjoyed waitressing at IHop in Tallahassee after she retired.

She was a member of Hayward Cates Baptist Church and later the Wacissa Pentecostal Holiness Church as well as a frequent visitor to many other churches until recent years.

She was preceded in death by both parents, four siblings, three husbands, and a son, Otis (Pete) L. Singleton, Jr. 

She is survived by two sons:  Floyd Eugene Walker, Sr. (wife, Linda) of Griffin, GA and Darrell E. Arnold of Tallahassee, FL; a brother, Dennis A. Tidwell (Cindy) of Blairsville, GA; seven grandchildren: LuAnn Walker Liguori (Joel), Marie Walker Morris (Mike), and Floyd E. Walker, Jr. of Griffen, GA; Alexa Singleton Angell (Paul) of Greenville, SC, Japheth R. Singleton of Austin, TX, Dustin A. H. Blackstock (Julee) and Johnathan L. Arnold (Jamie) of Tallahassee, FL. Fifteen great-grandchildren with the first great-great-grandchild expected in early 2024.

A graveside service will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Oakfield Cemetery in Monticello, FL.

    What a joy it was to have Dap visit us and be queen for a day with tiara and afghan robe. Lots of memories of her on the farm. Rest In Peace.

    I only knew you for 10 short years. First person we met when we moved into the neighborhood. Your life’s stories amazed me as we sat and shared together often. My family all fell in love with you over the years. You were a great friend…..thanks for the many times you shared lunch or birthday and holiday suppers . You are missed tremendously!
